We are both retired....Elwood as a Civil Service Electronics Technician with the U.S. Army,  and Karol as a Bank Officer with Bank of America.  We now live in Nampa, ID - arriving here in November of 2004  -  after 30½ years in Vacaville, CA.

We have three grown children.  Byron was with AT&T for 33 years, and is currently seeking "something different".   He and Asuncion "Sunny", live in their home in Tracy, CA.   She retired from AT&T in 2002.  Byron's pet Cockatiel " Wishbone" is learning new whistles, words, and keeps the house "noisy"!!  Their pride and joy are two grandchildren ...  Elijah "Eli", and Arianna "Ari" who live in San Jose with Joaquin and Julia Cisneros.   Melodi and Ray Horrell, moved from Vallejo, CA to Caldwell, ID in 2004, living just 9 miles from us.  If you go to visit their home you will be loudly greeted by "Jeffie Sue", their Min-Pin who says her prayers before she gets a treat.  Ray and Melodi can boast of three grand children:  Bella, Max and Noah, who live in Sacramento with Aaron and Evelin Horrell.  We are very happy to claim their grandchildren as our great-grands  -  all five of them!!

Our five bedroom home provides plenty of room for our two-family arrangement.  Raymond and his son Kristopher live here with us.  Raymond is a brittle diabetic which gives him many challenges.  He works full time as a "Commercial Loader"  (hard work!!) for Lowe's Home Improvement Center.  Kristopher (17) is independently home-schooling.  He is a great assistant for Grandma when she needs help at the computer!

Elwood's Mom, Florence M. (Diebel) (Gale) Shoemaker, lived, for two years, in a nice nursing facility in Fairfield, CA, about 9 miles from our home in Vacaville, until her death on 27Apr2000.  We laid her body to rest (04May2000) in Forestvale Cemetery in Helena, MT, beside Elwood's dad, Rev. B. Martin Gale, who was killed in Great Falls, MT, in a head-on collision with a drunk driver (04Apr1963).  (Florence married W. Clifford Shoemaker on 09Jun1968 in Nampa, ID.  Cliff passed away 09Apr1998 in Boise, ID)

Karol's mother, Edythe B (Rogers) Wilson, passed away on 24Dec1989.  On 29May1993, her father, Rev. George Wilson, married Lila M (Ford) Bozarth in Medford, OR.  He joined Edythe in Heaven on 09Feb2000. Both he and Edythe were laid to rest at Hillcrest Mausoleum in Medford.

Elwood enjoys working with computers, and has built a number of them for our family, and for friends and businesses.  His newest endeavors have been construction and maintenance of this family web site.

Karol is working hard on her family history, and spends many hours chasing after ancestors.  It has been quite exciting to find cousins to communicate with, and to exchange family information.  She recently self-published a book on her father's side of the family.  In 2006, Karol flew to Dallas/Fort Worth to visit her cousins that she had never met except by e-mail, and attended the annual Rogers Family reunion in Oklahoma.  She was thrilled to join her cousins on the annual trek to visit the lonely grave of her great great grandfather, Samuel Everitt Rogers, who was killed and scalped by Indians in 1863 and was buried on his son's ranch near Carlton, TX.

Karol joined the local DAR chapter and is proud of her certificate certifying that she is an approved member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution by virtue of her 4th great grandfather, William Sparks of North Carolina, who was a Patriot of the Revolutionary War.

We attend Karcher Church of the Nazarene here in Nampa.  We have found many friends and participate in several church activities. Kristopher enjoys the teen group.   Elwood and Karol joined the Northwest Nazarene University Volunteer organization in 2005 and are active participants.  Karol is now secretary for the group which keeps her busy.  The volunteers are Alumni and friends, who give support to the University through a variety of services  -  from preparing mailings, folding brochures, setting up tables for banquets, to painting, mowing, repairing, etc.  They also assist needy students with book scholarships.

Karol serves on our Colter Bay Subdivision Board.  That comes with a few challenges!

We would also like to invite you to take a look at our Family Genealogy Pages on this site ...........and perhaps make a contribution of family information, or even a correction!  When you visit, please do sign Our Guest Book so we will know you have been visiting us!!
